Welcome
Submitted by pamela on 14 November 2009 - 3:15pmDadamac Foundation (our registered charity) needs volunteers. The Dadamac Foundation Volunteers' Forum is where we plan to put all you need to know about being a Dadamac Foundation volunteer. We will use this online space to say what help is needed, and to discuss anything that is of interest to Dadamac Foundation volunteers.
New volunteers needed
Dadacam Foundation welcomes new volunteers - in fact we need some to help us put all our information up on the Internet - which in turn weill belp us to get new voulnteers to raise support for the projects we want to help.
What help do volunteers give?
Volunteers may help with work online or offline.
- They can help by working through their home computers
- They can work out and about in their own locality - they are promoting our projects and fundraising
- In Beckenham, Pam urgently needs some practical support, Face to Face, with her voluntary Dadamac work.
For most of the help we need you can be based anywhere at all. See general ideas of possible things to do and specific tasks that need doing
Do volunteers ever go abroad?
Dadamac Foundation volunteers are really needed for work in the UK (or where-ever they are at home online). We need volunteers who will support projects rather than go out to Africa to implement them on the ground.
What are the benefits of being a Dadamac volunteer?
- It is interesting
- It is worthwhile
- You can learn a lot of new information
- You can connect with people from different cultures and countries
- If you work online then you can practice and develop your ICT (information and Communication Technology) skills
- You can do as much or as little as suits you (as long as you say what you will be doing, and keep us informed of how you are getting on)
What kind of people make good Dadamac volunteers?
- If you are newly retired and want to continue making use of your skills and experience, somewhere they are valued, then we probably need you.
- If you are between jobs or in need of initial work experience (with a considerable amount of time to commit to your volunteering and a genuine desire to add value to your CV) then we will try to create a win-win relationship, helping you to develop your skills and your role as you help us.
- If you are often "housebound but online" because of ill health or family commitments but would be like to be part of a lively community, our online community could suit you well.
- If you only have a little time, now and then, but want to do something interesting and worthwhile, you will also be welcome.
I'm interested - what next?
To find out more you can add a comment below or send an email to nicola.fishman@dadamac.net or pamela.mclean@dadamac.net so we can discuss possibilities. We find things usually work best when people try a few things out, get to know us well, and then gradually create a role around their own interests. We look forward to hearing from you.

THE JUST CONCLUDED DADAMAC DAY, 2009.
Great feedback on Dadamac Day
Thanks Mercy for this feedback about Dadamac Day.
It is lovely to get information directly from Nigeria.
It was great to catch up with you on yahoo after Dadamac Day. Thanks for following up my request and writing this report for us. I am so pleased you have discovered how to put information directly onto the the discussion list as well. Thank you.
I would like to move your email to a different discussion list sometime (there is one which is all about Dadamac Day). If I move it there then I will be more confident that people who are interested in Dadamac Day will see your comment - but I have not learned how to move things yet ;-)
I hope to bump in to you again soon on yahoo - and we will keep learning together how to do things here in the discussion lists.
I am excited that we have this space to use together. I was sad when you left Fantsuam Foudation, because I so much appreciated working with you there. Thank you for joining me again and for helping me to buld the dadamac online community here at www.Dadamac.net
