More about First Thursday meetings

On the First Thursday of each month I try to be online for an hour. I invite some of my friends and  contacts to join me. I have no idea if anyone will be willing and able to accept my invitation, but I wait online in the hope that someone will arrive - and usually the result is an  interesting discussion of some kind. There is no pre-booking - you just turn up - but the software does limit how many people can attend. So far there has always been room for everyone.

Meeting or chat room

Some people who are valued members of the group can't  make it to many online meetings. This year I'm encouraging people who can't attend during a First Thursday session to drop by at some other time during the month and leave a message. The meeting place stays open, so there is the
opportunity to use it as a chat room at any time.

Agenda for the online meetings

We start our online meetings with a "meet and greet" time, then choose our topics according to who turns up. If only a couple of us turn up we explore all our latest news, interests and issues in depth. If more turn up then we explore the interests that are shared by most people.

Archive 2012, 2011and earlier

During 2012 and 2011 each meeting held on an etherpad links back to the previous two months and forward to the next one, so you can quickly find your way backwards and forwards through the year - starting in the middle:

Earlier meetings 2007-2010 were held in the Minciu Sodas chatroom until Andrius Kulikauskas had to close it through lack of income. We moved First Thursday to Skype, as a temporary solution but it was not sufficently inclusive for our needs. Archives from before 2011 are scattered around the Internet - some easier to find than others.
